Surah 51. Ad-Dariyat The Spreaders - English Translation

0. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

bookmark 1. By the spreaders spreading.

1. وَٱلذَّٰرِيَٰتِ ذَرْوًۭا

bookmark 2. And those carrying loads.

2. فَٱلْحَٰمِلَٰتِ وِقْرًۭا

bookmark 3. And those moving gently.

3. فَٱلْجَٰرِيَٰتِ يُسْرًۭا

bookmark 4. And those distributing as commanded.

4. فَٱلْمُقَسِّمَٰتِ أَمْرًا

bookmark 5. What you are promised is true.

5. إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقٌۭ

bookmark 6. Judgment will take place.

6. وَإِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ لَوَٰقِعٌۭ

bookmark 7. By the sky that is woven.

7. وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْحُبُكِ

bookmark 8. You differ in what you say.

8. إِنَّكُمْ لَفِى قَوْلٍۢ مُّخْتَلِفٍۢ

bookmark 9. Averted from it is he who is averted.

9. يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ

bookmark 10. Perish the imposters.

10. قُتِلَ ٱلْخَرَّٰصُونَ

bookmark 11. Those who are dazed in ignorance.

11. ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍۢ سَاهُونَ

bookmark 12. They ask, “When is the Day of Judgment?”

12. يَسْـَٔلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ

bookmark 13. The Day they are presented to the Fire.

13. يَوْمَ هُمْ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ يُفْتَنُونَ

bookmark 14. “Taste your ordeal. This is what you used to challenge.”

14. ذُوقُوا۟ فِتْنَتَكُمْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

bookmark 15. But the pious are amidst gardens and springs.

15. إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍ

bookmark 16. Receiving what their Lord has given them. They were virtuous before that.

16. ءَاخِذِينَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ

bookmark 17. They used to sleep a little at night.

17. كَانُوا۟ قَلِيلًۭا مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُونَ

bookmark 18. And at dawn, they would pray for pardon.

18. وَبِٱلْأَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ

bookmark 19. And in their wealth, there was a share for the beggar and the deprived.

19. وَفِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّۭ لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ

bookmark 20. And on earth are signs for the convinced.

20. وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ءَايَٰتٌۭ لِّلْمُوقِنِينَ

bookmark 21. And within yourselves. Do you not see?

21. وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ

bookmark 22. And in the heaven is your livelihood, and what you are promised.

22. وَفِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزْقُكُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ

bookmark 23. By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is as true as the fact that you speak.

23. فَوَرَبِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقٌّۭ مِّثْلَ مَآ أَنَّكُمْ تَنطِقُونَ

bookmark 24. Has the story of Abraham’s honorable guests reached you?

24. هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلْمُكْرَمِينَ

bookmark 25. When they entered upon him, they said, “Peace.” He said, “Peace, strangers.”

25. إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًۭا ۖ قَالَ سَلَٰمٌۭ قَوْمٌۭ مُّنكَرُونَ

bookmark 26. Then he slipped away to his family, and brought a fatted calf.

26. فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ فَجَآءَ بِعِجْلٍۢ سَمِينٍۢ

bookmark 27. He set it before them. He said, “Will you not eat?”

27. فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ

bookmark 28. And he harbored fear of them. They said, “Do not fear,” and they announced to him the good news of a knowledgeable boy.

28. فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةًۭ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٍۢ

bookmark 29. His wife came forward crying. She clasped her face, and said, “A barren old woman?”

29. فَأَقْبَلَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ فِى صَرَّةٍۢ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌۭ

bookmark 30. They said, “Thus spoke your Lord. He is the Wise, the Knowing.”

30. قَالُوا۟ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ

bookmark 31. He said, “What is your business, O envoys?”

31. ۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ

bookmark 32. They said, “We are sent to a people guilty of sin.”

32. قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍۢ مُّجْرِمِينَ

bookmark 33. “To unleash upon them rocks of clay.”

33. لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةًۭ مِّن طِينٍۢ

bookmark 34. “Marked by your Lord for the excessive.”

34. مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ

bookmark 35. We evacuated all the believers who were in it.

35. فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

bookmark 36. But found in it only one household of Muslims.

36. فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

bookmark 37. And We left in it a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.

37. وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةًۭ لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ

bookmark 38. And in Moses. We sent him to Pharaoh with a clear authority.

38. وَفِى مُوسَىٰٓ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ

bookmark 39. But he turned away with his warlords, and said, “A sorcerer or a madman.”

39. فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَٰحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌۭ

bookmark 40. So We seized him and his troops, and threw them into the sea, and He was to blame.

40. فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ

bookmark 41. And in Aad. We unleashed against them the devastating wind.

41. وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ

bookmark 42. It spared nothing it came upon, but rendered it like decayed ruins.

42. مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَىْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَٱلرَّمِيمِ

bookmark 43. And in Thamood. They were told, “Enjoy yourselves for a while.”

43. وَفِى ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ

bookmark 44. But they defied the command of their Lord, so the lightning struck them as they looked on.

44. فَعَتَوْا۟ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ

bookmark 45. They could not rise up, nor could they find help.

45. فَمَا ٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟ مِن قِيَامٍۢ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنتَصِرِينَ

bookmark 46. And before that, the people of Noah. They were immoral people.

46. وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍۢ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًۭا فَٰسِقِينَ

bookmark 47. We constructed the universe with power, and We are expanding it.

47. وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيْنَٰهَا بِأَيْي۟دٍۢ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ

bookmark 48. And the earth—We spread it out—How well We prepared it!

48. وَٱلْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَٰهَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَٰهِدُونَ

bookmark 49. We created all things in pairs, so that you may reflect and ponder.

49. وَمِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ

bookmark 50. “So flee towards God. I am to you from Him a clear warner.”

50. فَفِرُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ

bookmark 51. “And do not set up any other god with God. I am to you from Him a clear warner.”

51. وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ

bookmark 52. Likewise, no messenger came to those before them, but they said, “A sorcerer or a madman.”

52. كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا۟ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ

bookmark 53. Did they recommend it to one another? In fact, they are rebellious people.

53. أَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِهِۦ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌۭ طَاغُونَ

bookmark 54. So turn away from them; you are not to blame.

54. فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٍۢ

bookmark 55. And remind, for the reminder benefits the believers.

55. وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

bookmark 56. I did not create the jinn and the humans except to worship Me.

56. وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

bookmark 57. I need no livelihood from them, nor do I need them to feed Me.

57. مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِّزْقٍۢ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ

bookmark 58. God is the Provider, the One with Power, the Strong.

58. إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلْقُوَّةِ ٱلْمَتِينُ

bookmark 59. Those who do wrong will have their turn, like the turn of their counterparts, so let them not rush Me.

59. فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذَنُوبًۭا مِّثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَٰبِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ

bookmark 60. So woe to those who disbelieve because of that Day of theirs which they are promised.

60. فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن يَوْمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
