0. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

bookmark 13. The messenger of God said to them, “This is the she-camel of God, so let her drink.”

Context of Revelation

The surah Ash-Shams (“The Sun”) is a Meccan surah consisting of 15 verses, revealed during the early years of the Prophet’s ﷺ mission in Mecca. The example of the people of Thamud, who rejected the Prophet Salih and defied God’s sign by slaughtering the sacred camel, leading to their destruction. (verses 11–15)
